Dam Restoration Project

downtown bridge.jpg

NMW was asked to restore an old penstock and lifting mechanism in order to provide a future source of green power. The most cost effective means of temporarily damming the water in order to inspect the integrity of the old concrete was to access the water through the floor inside the building. The above the steps in this process:

1. Devised a monorail system to bring in I beams and sheets

2. Welded steel structure and lowered it into moving water

3. Lowered sheets upstream against structure

4. Created access by means of stairs

5. Cut away and remove old concrete and bedrock

6. We removed debris with our crane and dump wagon

7. Set tracks for gate and beam for opener

8. Fabricated gate, had it galvanized

9. Refurbished old lift gate opener and installed
